Faye Dunaway AKA Dorothy Faye Dunaway Born: 14-Jan-1941 Birthplace: Bascom, FL
Gender: Female Religion: Roman Catholic Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: Network Faye Dunaway weighed only four pounds at birth. Her father was a soldier, so the family moved often, and Dunaway spent much of her childhood in Germany. She studied drama in college, and mere days after graduating she landed her Broadway debut in the original run of A Man for All Seasons with Paul Scofield. After several small roles on television, she made her film debut in the hippie saga The Happening, and co-starred in the overwrought Hurry, Sundown. She then shot to stardom in her Oscar-nominated role as a Depression-era bank-robber in Bonnie and Clyde, opposite Warren Beatty.
She was Oscar-nominated again as the mysterious woman in Chinatown, and won the Best Actress statuette as a ruthless TV executive in Network. Among her many successes, such as Little Big Man and Three Days of the Condor, there have been cinematic flat notes as well. Dunaway's more embarrassing roles include the wand-waving would-be world dominatrix of Supergirl, the scheming Queen of France in The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, and a deliciously demented turn as Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest. After that unintentional comedy, Hollywood became chilly for Dunaway, and she spent several years in England. She continues to work in films, but almost exclusively in movies that receive scant attention.
Dunaway is widely considered a diva -- demanding and difficult to work with. Nicholson nicknamed her "Dread". She was fired from the lead in a 1994 stage production of Sunset Boulevard, when Andrew Lloyd Webber said she simply could not deliver the singing the part demanded. In response, Dunaway sued Webber for $6,000,000, but lost. Father: John MacDowell Dunaway (Army officer, b. 9-Aug-1920, d. 6-Jun-1984) Mother: Grace April Smith (b.
