In 1985, Gossett saw a six-year-old homeless boy on Good Morning America; that day, he began the process of tracking him down, and later adopted the boy. Sharron was later accepted to Kent State University.
An ugly dispute arose in 1982 when ex-wife Mangosing charged that Gossett's current girlfriend, Honey Rufner, gave cocaine to their son Satie. After a police raid, cocaine was found in the residence but charges were dropped and the boy returned to his father. [UPI, 29-Apr-1982.]
