Bush On 10 May 2005, during a rally at which U.S. president George W. Bush and Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili were speaking, Arutyunian threw a live grenade at the stage, though the grenade did not detonate. Arutyunian was apprehended following a shoot-out in his apartment on 20 July 2005, in which he killed Zurab Kvlividze, head of the Anti-Terrorist Department of the Georgian Interior Ministry, and was shot three times in the legs. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on 12 January 2006.
