She has writing best-sellers explaining science to lay audiences, and hosted Brain Story, a science series on the BBC. Appointed to the House of Lords by Prime Minister Tony Blair, she is a staunch opponent of marijuana decriminalization, since, she says, she has seen "the effects of so-called soft drugs on the brain".
