Canadian Football League team, founded 1946. Played 1982-85 as the Montreal Concordes, then resumed the Montreal Alouettes name in 1986. Team was dissolved before the start of the 1987 season. Grey Cup champions in 1949, 1970, 1974, and 1977.

An expansion franchise called the Baltimore Stallions joined the league in 1994, and was relocated and renamed the Montreal Alouettes in 1996. Grey Cup champions in 2002, 2009, and 2010. Additionally, the Stallions were Grey Cup winners in 1995, though the CFL does not consider that year's championship as part of the Alouettes' pedigree.

The team's unusual name is derived from a French-language folk song, with the familiar refrain, "Alouette, gentille alouette, alouette, je te plumerai." Rough English translation: "Birdy, pretty birdy, birdy, I will pluck you."
