Founded 1882 as the St. Louis Brown Stockings. Renamed St. Louis Perfectos in 1899, but more popularly called the Cardinals for their red uniforms. Officially became the St. Louis Cardinals in 1900.

National League champions in 1926, 1928, 1930, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1946, 1964, 1967, 1968, 1982, 1985, 1987, 2004, 2006, 2011, and 2013. Won the World Series in 1926, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1964, 1967, 1982, 2006, and 2011.
