SPORTS FRANCHISE

Founded 1894 as the minor league Grand Rapids Rustlers. Relocated to Cleveland in 1900. Charter member of the American League in 1901, when that circuit declared itself a major league. Played as the Cleveland Bluebirds in 1901 and 02, the Cleveland Naps (honoring Nap Lajoie) from 1903 to 1911, the Cleveland Molly McGuires from 1912 to 1914, and the Cleveland Indians since 1915.

American League champions in 1920, 1948, 1954, 1995, 1997, and 2016. World Series winners in 1920 and 1948.
